PAINTINGS—

These are paintings I have created within both Painting I or Painting II while in college, or simply things I have painted within my free time.

“Ephesians 4:28”—

This painting is part of a five series piece where I asked family members the question, “what do you feel your purpose in life is or what has God called you to do?”

Answer: to simply use my God-given hands to work. Not just for myself, but for others as well.

This is a painting I did for my brother. I wanted to depict working hands. & if anyone knows my brother, you know he’s probably one of the most hard-working people you’ve ever met. Austin just graduated a couple months ago from lineman school, to which he is now working (using his hands) to install and repair electrical power lines and telecommunications cables all while doing it for the safety of others.

Ephesians 4:28 - “Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.” NIV

“3 John 1:4”—

This painting is part of a five series piece where I asked family members the question, “what do you feel your purpose in life is or what has God called you to do?”

Answer: To simply be a mother.

This painting was for my momma. She feels as if God called her into this world to simply be a mom. To do all she is able within her life for her kids. This painting is depicting the silhouette of a mother and a child, while being made of words at which I think best describe and represent her as a mom. It also includes words of things she likes. (Ex: peach rings & hot tamales)

3 John 1:4 - “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” (NIV)

“Romans 12:2”—

This painting is part of a five series piece where I asked family members the question, “what do you feel your purpose in life is or what has God called you to do?”

Answer: To help others through her work.

This was for my best friend Kayla. She pursued a degree in Psychology while achieving a minor in sociology as well. She feels God has called her to use her degree to help others in need, and to witness through her work. The different flowers represent the people at which she will be working with. All the flowers are different because not all people will be in the same stage of life or will be in the same state of mind at which she will be working to help. Some flowers are fully bloomed and some are wilted over. I wanted to represent all of the people she will be assisting through her job, because not one person is the same or will be in the same disposition. They are depicted from out of the head/brain, because she will be studying clients cerebrum and helping people get to a normal state of mind.

Romans 12:2 - “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

“Psalm 1:3”—

This painting is part of a five series piece where I asked family members the question, “what do you feel your purpose in life is or what has God called you to do?”

Answer: I believe your purpose in life can change based off the cycle of life that you’re in. My ultimate purpose is to be a comforter and a provider to both my kids & to family and friends. But also to simply listen to anyone that needs me to.

This was a 2 canvas painting at which I did for my dad. Unlike everyone else, my dad had multiple answers. I didn’t want to just choose one thing, because I felt like every part he mentioned makes up who he is & represents him as a person. Therefore, I tried to include them all. I depicted a tree because it is both comforting & has a sense of providement. It is shown in all four seasons, because my dad feels your purpose can change based off the different cycle of life that you’re in. My dad also mentioned a quote that his papaw told him when he was little that he now uses as his life’s motto- “you can tell a Christian based upon the smile they wear on their face, & the hand that they offer to others”.

- both a smile & a hand are subtly shown within the branches. (A set of lips are shown within the winter scene & a hand/fingers are shown within the fall): represent the quote from his papaw

- a silhouette of an ear is also shown within the trunk of the tree: represent listening

- lastly, a lady bug is depicted on a branch within the spring scene, because my dad always calls me “bug”

Psalm 1:3 - “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (KJV)

“Exodus 35:35”—

This painting is part of a five series piece where I asked family members the question, “what do you feel your purpose in life is or what has God called you to do?”

Answer: I feel as if God has called me to use my artwork to witness and inspire others. I am a graphic design major & have minors in both business administration and fine art. I feel as if He has given me my artistic ability to simply create inspiring things for others. My artwork doesn’t define who I am, but my faith does. I want to use my work to share & witness to others the Word of God.

This painting is a painting for myself. It is made of mixed-media. Within the background are pieces I have created within graphic design. While the Bible verse is painted on top using colored texture.

Exodus 35:35- “He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.” (NIV)

“Imitated Starry Night”—

This was a painting I created where I had to emulate the work of a famous artist. I chose Van Gough and his Starry Night painting. This was created within my painting I class where I used oil-based paints.
